Glenn’s welcoming, small town vibe is rooted deeply in its history. But you’re probably just wondering why it’s called “Pancake Town.” Incidentally, the two go hand in hand.
In 1937, a blizzard left hundreds of motorists seeking shelter in the tiny town of Glenn. So many additional mouths to feed emptied grocery stores pretty quickly, but almost everyone had the ingredients necessary to make pancakes. Together, the residents of Glenn and stranded travelers ate pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while they waited for the snow to clear. The camaraderie lives on: Glenn still hosts pancake breakfasts throughout the year. Join in on the tradition and catch one during your stay.
Of course, eating pancakes is not the only thing to do in Glenn. The town also has some great beaches and places to go berry picking. Glenn is also home to the Kismet Farm Bakery. Kismet specializes in cold-fermented and hearth-baked breads, and they sell a variety of pastries and other delicious goods. We highly recommend their original Seedy Salt bread.
Our two properties in Glenn are right by Lake Michigan and have remarkable views.
